A Look at Casino Games (Part 5)
Welcome back for the fifth part of Winaday Casino's in-depth perspective of Casino games. Slot games are very popular with our players for many reasons, but we also offer a great selection of table games. Today we're taking a look at how to play Baccarat.
Baccarat is one of the casino games that some casino patrons find intimidating. A lot of people were first exposed to the game while watching James Bond films. It's true that the wealthy heavy hitters play baccarat, but with the popularity of casinos with the general masses, mini baccarat has made the game accessible to all. The truth is that baccarat is a guessing game with an acceptable house advantage.
How To Play The Game
The goal of Baccarat is to guess and bet on whether the Banker's hand will win, lose, or tie the Player's hand. Classic baccarat is played in a baccarat pit. Table minimums range up from $25. Up to 14 players can be seated, 7 at each end of the large table.
In front of each player there is a place for a bet on the Banker or Player winning as well as a place for a tie. The dealer in the middle, the caller, runs the game. In the middle of the table layout there are numbered squares for the dealers to keep track of how much commission a particular player owes the house. The other two dealers handle the bets at either end of the table. This is one of the most unique aspects of these types of casino games.
At the start of the game, a formal procedure of shuffling 8 decks is performed by all three of the dealers. A player cuts the cards and they are placed in a holding position. Starting at the first position, the player is offered the chance to be the banker, and actually deal the cards. Bets can be placed on the Banker's hand to win, on the Player's hand to win, or on a tie between Banker and Player. Any player can place any of these bets regardless if you are the dealer or not.
The cards are all dealt face down. The first card is slid to the center dealer (the caller) and is a part of the Player's hand. The second card is placed next to, or slid partially under, the shoe and is part of the Banker's hand. The third card is added to the Player's. The fourth card dealt is added to the Banker's hand. The caller will pass the Player's hand to the player with the highest bet for the Player's hand to win.
The caller will turn the Player's hand face up followed by the Banker's hand. The caller will determine the value of the hands and draw cards according to baccarat's drawing rules. Winners are paid and loser's bets are taken. This can be one of the most rewarding casino games with enough practice.
